Gaming revenue in Nevada, US, rose 1.5 per cent year-on-year in February to US$1.24bn, with the bigger story being a first rise in visitor numbers to Las Vegas in over a year.

The latest report from the Nevada Gaming Control Board also showed that for the fiscal year to date, revenue is up 0.79 per cent.

The Las Vegas Strip generated gaming revenue of $696.3m in February, up 0.86 per cent from last February’s $690.3m. Revenue in the Downtown area, however, fell 4.2 per cent to $69.8m.

The bigger story, however, is that visitors to Las Vegas rose for the first time in 13 months in February. There were three million visitors to the city last month, a 2.1 per cent rise, the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority said.
